by The Re-mones

Painter Gideon Bok exhibits more than one hundred “LP still life paintings” arranged in a triple hung grid. Each 12″ x 12″ expressionistic oil painting depicts an album from the artist’s perspective – leaning against a wall, laid upon the floor or placed on a raised surface. Each painting was inspired by Bok’s personal music collection of punk, folk, rock and heavy metal. Bok lives and works in Rockland, ME, and received his M.F.A. from Yale University and his B.A. from Hampshire College.

From 1976 through the mid-1980’s, Gary Green photographed the music scene in New York City. We are showing a selection of his on-site pictures from such clubs as CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City, as well as studio portraits from the same period. Many of his photographs from that time were published in music publications including New York Rocker, Rock Scene, Rolling Stone, and Spin and used for record sleeves and LP covers for such artists as Robert Gordon, Joe Jackson, and Marshall Crenshaw. Green lives and works in Waterville, ME, and is Assistant Professor of Art at Colby College. He received his M.F.A. from Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College, and his B.S. from The State University of New York, Empire State College.
