This mixed media piece, AMARNA 3 is one of many unframed works by Abbott Meader that will be showing at CSA from June 6th to 29th. Meader is mostly known for drawings and paintings of Maine landscapes, but here he will be presenting some of many other, sometimes startingly different explorations that have occupied his attention over the years.
The exhibit will feature many works that are involved in series and variations, ranging from the playful to the political, and from the grim to the goofy. For example there are three AMARNA pieces, two of which will be shown together here for the first time.
Abbott Meader is both a painter and a film maker, an artist with strong Maine roots, and is a retired Professor of art of Colby College. His work is in many collections, and has been shown widely in Maine and beyond.
Meader will be pricing these unframed works as low as possible to encourage sales, with the majority of the income going to support Common Street Arts.
Opening Reception June 6th from 5 to 8pm.
Closing Reception June 29th from 4 to 6pm.
Artist talk with films June 12th 6:30 to 8:30pm
