Education and Outreach Coordinator
Full Time (40 hours per week) Non-exempt status
Waterville Creates! seeks a highly qualified and dynamic Education and Outreach Coordinator to serve as a valuable member of its collaborative organization. Through WC!’s programmatic arm, Common Street Arts, the Education and Outreach Coordinator will provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all program participants and visitors. The Coordinator will be an extremely cooperative, adaptive, and professional member of the WC! team and will play a vital role in developing and providing innovative educational classes, workshops, and special events relating to CSA exhibitions and key community programs. The Coordinator will ensure all aspects of gallery and studio are efficiently and professionally managed and will serve as a primary coordinating representative providing access and engagement for all members of the community. The Coordinator will be able to simultaneously manage internal initiatives as well as external commitments and community partnerships. This position reports to the Vice President of Programs + Operations.
- Guided by the Waterville Cultural Blueprint, develop new strategies to increase accessibility of arts programming to target populations.
- In concert with community stakeholders and WC! staff, provide innovative, relevant, and accessible educational programming related to CSA exhibitions and other community programmatic endeavors (Public Art Task Group, PechaKucha events, Waterville Rocks! events, etc.).
- Serve as a leading representative of WC!/CSA to cultivate key programmatic and educational partnerships that engender shared experiences and activate community projects.
- In direct collaboration with Waterville Creates! staff and community representatives, develop a highly engaging, innovative, and relevant exhibition program.
- Work collaboratively and efficiently with WC!/CSA staff and instructors to maintain and execute high quality and unique creative experiences.
- Work closely with WC! Marketing Manager, communicate clearly and consistently program content and schedule in order to maximize CSA’s profile and effectively promote the distinctive features of the CSA program.
- Work with the Coordinator of Special Projects to ensure a lively and well managed volunteer core to support CSA’s exhibition, education, and special event initiatives.
- Serve as a contributing member of the WC! Program Committee, CSA Advisory Committee and other committees as needed.
- Proven ability to work with diverse audiences in a collaborative manner while supporting and delivering key programmatic initiatives
- Enthusiastic and positive demeanor, creative problem solver
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines
- Self-motivation and ability to identify areas where improvements are needed and program impact can be made
- Passion and dedication to arts and culture, artists, + community initiatives
- BA. or equivalent experience
- 5 years in educational, non-profit, or arts-related organization preferred
- Criminal background check required
